HALI Access Network ("HALI," "we," "us," or "our") is a nonprofit foundation connecting high-achieving African students with scholarships and university access. This policy explains what information we collect through haliaccess.org, how we use it, and the choices you have.

Information We Collect

• Contact form submissions — name, email, organization, and message content you provide.
• Donations — processed directly by PayPal; we receive the donor's name, email, and donation amount, but never store full payment card details ourselves.
• Newsletter sign-ups — your email address, stored with Mailchimp, our email service provider.
• Member/admin accounts — for HALI member organizations and staff, we store an email, hashed password, and organization details to provide dashboard access.
• Analytics & cookies — with your consent, we use Google Analytics to understand site usage. See "Cookies" below for how to control this.

How We Use Information

We use the information above to:

• Respond to inquiries submitted through our contact form
• Process and acknowledge donations, and issue tax-deductible receipts where applicable
• Send newsletter updates to subscribers who opt in
• Provide secure login and dashboard access to member organizations and staff
• Understand aggregate site usage to improve the site (only with analytics consent)

We do not sell or rent your personal information to third parties.

Third-Party Services

We rely on the following third-party services, each governed by its own privacy policy:

• PayPal — donation processing
• Mailchimp — newsletter delivery
• Resend — transactional email (password resets, login verification codes)
• Google Analytics — site usage analytics (only loaded after cookie consent)

Cookies

We use essential cookies required for the site to function (such as keeping you signed in), and — only if you accept — analytics cookies to understand how visitors use the site. You can decline non-essential cookies at any time from the cookie banner, or by clearing your browser's cookies for this site.

Data Security

Account passwords are stored using industry-standard one-way hashing (bcrypt) and are never stored or transmitted in plain text. Login for member and staff accounts requires a one-time verification code sent by email in addition to a password. All traffic to this site is encrypted over HTTPS.

Your Rights

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information at any time by contacting us at info@haliaccess.org. We will respond to verified requests within a reasonable timeframe.

Children's Privacy

Our site is intended for university-aged students, educators, member organizations, and donors. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
