HALI Indaba 2024: Global Learners, Local Leaders
The HALI Indaba 2024 marked the 9th annual HALI Access Network gathering held in Rwanda 9th to 12th September 2024. Bringing together 75 advocates of higher education access, the Indaba focused on the theme “Global Learners, Local Leaders.”

As a new academic year begins, over 100 students from HALI member organizations are preparing for universities abroad. To ensure a smooth transition, HALI Access Network hosted a virtual pre-departure session to help these students thrive on campus.
A new initiative from Tujenge Africa Foundation Alumni!
Tujenge Africa Foundation alumni cofounded Space-Ed Africa, launching the EmpowerHER Summit in December 2023 to encourage women to pursue business and nonprofit careers. The pilot summit in Bujumbura included current Tujenge students as active participants.
Celebrating Mental Health Month – UWC East Africa
In May, UWC East Africa students, part of the HALI network, marked Mental Health Month by raising awareness and creating understanding of mental health. Their efforts aimed to break stigma and encourage open conversations around mental well-being.
Bridging Borders: A New Partnership within the HALI Access Network
Haile-Manas Academy in Ethiopia welcomed leaders from Abaarso School in Somaliland, building connections within the HALI Network. They shared experiences on college counseling and admissions, setting the stage for collaboration to support low-income students.
