About The School of St Jude

The School of St Jude is a pioneering leader in charitable education within Africa, delivering free, quality education to approximately 1,800 students from disadvantaged backgrounds across three campuses in Tanzania. Founded in 2002 by Australian educator Gemma Sisia, the school operates on the principle that education is the best way to fight poverty. The institution provides boarding for all secondary students, employs over 300 Tanzanian staff members, and supports hundreds of graduates pursuing higher education. The Beyond St Jude's (BSJ) Community Service volunteer program places graduates in government schools where they teach more than 20,000 students annually in mathematics and science, with college and tertiary scholarships available for qualified participants.
