Equity Group Foundation

Equity Group Foundation (EGF) is the social impact arm of Equity Group Holdings, established in 2008 to transform lives and livelihoods across Africa by expanding access to modern, inclusive financial services that create social and economic opportunities.

Through its Education and Leadership Development pillar, EGF seeks to break the cycle of poverty by increasing access to quality secondary and tertiary education while nurturing the next generation of leaders. Recognizing that a nation can only be as strong as its leaders, EGF invests in young people who demonstrate exceptional academic potential and leadership promise.

To achieve this vision, the Equity Leaders Program (ELP) was established in 1998 as a rigorous leadership development program for top-performing Kenyan students. The program aims to build a community of transformative leaders who collaborate across sectors and borders to advance sustainable economic growth and social progress across Africa.

ELP scholars are immersed in a high-performance environment where they develop critical values and skills, including hard work, integrity, professionalism, communication, customer service, and strong work ethics. Prior to joining universities locally and globally, scholars undertake internships at Equity Bank, gaining practical workplace experience and exposure. Since its inception, 8,878 scholars have benefited from these internship opportunities.

To expand global exposure and access to world-class educational opportunities, ELP scholars interested in studying abroad participate in an intensive month-long residential training program covering critical thinking, university application processes, and exposure to opportunities available at leading global institutions. As a result, 891 scholars have secured admission to more than 209 leading universities across 35 countries, including several Ivy League institutions.

Graduates of these institutions have gone on to pursue impactful careers in diverse fields, including finance, healthcare, technology, and other sectors, contributing to social and economic development both within Africa and globally.
