Daraja Girls' School

Daraja Girls’ School is a scholarship-supported boarding high school located in Nanyuki, Laikipia County. All students receive full scholarships, providing academically promising girls from low-income and underserved communities with access to quality secondary education. Students are selected based on financial need, academic potential and leadership promise and come from diverse backgrounds across Kenya.

Daraja is committed to holistic student development with a strong focus on preparing students for opportunities beyond secondary school. Students receive structured support in exploring academic and career pathways, researching universities, identifying scholarships and financial aid and preparing competitive applications, including personal statements, recommendation letters, CVs and interviews. The program supports both Kenyan and international higher education pathways and recognizes the additional barriers faced by students who may have limited family experience navigating university admissions.

Daraja seeks to strengthen pathways for high-achieving, high-need students to access higher education. The school works to ensure that financial circumstances, limited exposure to university opportunities or lack of access to admissions guidance do not prevent talented girls from pursuing their aspirations. Through education, counseling, mentorship, and post-secondary transition support, Daraja aims to help its students move from scholarship-supported secondary education to meaningful opportunities in higher education and beyond.
