About Canada Mathare Education Trust

At CMETrust we believe every child should be able to go to school, and that education empowers people to change their communities for the better. Yet most children from Mathare — an informal settlement in Kenya — cannot afford to attend secondary school. Since 2006, CMETrust has supported more than 130 students in Mathare through secondary school scholarships. The organization provides workshops on leadership, learning, and service during school holidays, and offers computer training to all graduates. Its alumni network is active and growing in Mathare, with all scholars committed to giving back through community clean-ups, tree-planting, and walks raising awareness about the importance of education. CMETrust is a registered Canadian charity run by volunteers in Canada and Kenya, operating in collaboration with the Mathare community and accountable for measurable impact.
